I TV I FM redux
Krutie Thakkar
January 3 - March 1, 2025
Opening Reception January 3, 5-8pm
The subjects in I TV I FM redux are Krutie Thakkar’s Cherokee street neighbors, friends, and acquaintances. She spent many years in the neighborhood enjoying the unique energies of people while languidly loafing around town. Thakkar felt inspired to make solid and visceral her love for her community by ceremonializing the bacchanal blur in these ironically sometimes-stoic portraits. The paintings often fall apart and return together with great detail and color just like Thakkar’s memories of that time. Originally a part of the RAC sponsored series, In the Void I Face Myself, which featured over 30 portraits exhibited at Fifteen Windows Gallery and Moshmellow last summer, I TV I FM redux is a succinct collection selected specially for the Foundry Art Centre.
